I think the tag is uncessary.  You can do a 'cvs export' without a tag and 
you'll get the latest committed versions from the trunk.

Had I known about the cvs export command 4 years ago, I would have used it.  
The cvs checkout is not a good idea to a web server as the CVS folders are 
then available to the world (if they try to get them).  Whereas, export 
doesn't build a cvs sandbox, so no CVS folders.

My 0.02 as the postfix guy masquerading as the cvs guy

P.S.  I believe that doing a cvs export eliminates the monkey business of 
checking out to some temp directory and then linking or copying or moving 
files into the location of the web server.
