Yes in general to all of the above.

1. I prefer postgres. Automated upgrades to any DB can result in
breakage. I'm not really fond of automatic upgrades anyway. It's
better to backup the DB (and other stuff) then do the upgrades
manually.

2. I could do a meeting most any evening in the south area or on
Saturday or Sunday.
