I'm not sure how you're doing updates.  I log in to the server with SSH, run CVS there, and edit 
things with vi.  So I haven't ever figured out how to have a remote CVS sandbox and such.

It looks like the CVS root is /var/cvs/cvsroot and the repository is called website.  If you look at 
the CVS docs that should be enough for you to set up your own working copy.  Maybe you already got 
all that.

So then "publishing", syncing the working web site files with the latest CVS, is done as Jed said. 
Since I'm already on the server it's easier for me to publish from the command line and then I don't 
have to have an extra password (and I won't use my login password over HTTP).

at least show you how the server is set up, if not all the ins and outs of the PHP app.
