BTW - 'less' has most of the same features and movements of vi, so you don't 
have to fire up vi if you do not wish.  You only need to set your PAGER 
enviromental variable to 'less':

$ PAGER=less
$ export PAGER

then man will automatically use less as the pager.  On Linux, I believe less 
is the default pager.
