What kernel is in Redhat 5.1?  I don't think it's 2.2, so I would
recommend upgrading that.  Even if for no other reason than the better
firewalling.

That amount of email should be no problem, although I personally use
postfix rather than sendmail.  
I know mysql supports ODBC access, but not sure what the maintenance
requirements are.

As far as maintenance, it would only be weekly security updates.
