Nope, it's not just you. Posting in HTML to mailing lists and Usenet is not
only rude, it's just plain wrong. HTML has its uses, even in email, but not
when you have a broad audience with many varied mail/news readers... 

Then there's the top-posting issue, but so many email clients implement
replying incorrectly, and so many newcomers to the Internet in general have
seen nothing but these tools, so that may be a tough battle...sadly, I've
seen plenty of X11/Gtk type of tools do this same thing, when you think the
authors would know better. I guess they were modeling the behavior of
LookOut a bit *too* closely. I see it so much now that I don't bother to say
anything, but it still is like sandpaper on the eyes, especially in a long
and complicated thread. I usually don't even bother to *read* an HTML post.
