I will call it symbolic and I am absolutely not a democrat (or a republican).
Saddam was not a threat (to us) before the war, and from what I have seen even
less after it. The real threat are the ones that have attacked us; Al Qaeda.

Many of the Iraqi attacks are thought to be Al Qaeda.
Almost certainly all the suicides are.
Al Qaeda has always hated Sadaam and the Baath party so they look at this as a
joy for themselves.
I suspect that the attacks will speed up, not slow down as the admin claims.
I think that W will put on a sham trial that will piss off many neutral
musleums.
Personally, I would be happy to see W right and have it slow down.
With Al Qaeda regrouping in Afghanastan and all the UN troops pulling out, I
think it will get worse for us.

If W. had any real intelligence, he would start paying the iraqi soldiers
decent pay; like 200-300/month. That would also inject money back into the
Iraqi economy. Otherwise, we will find ourselves paying our troops 2K/month
with many more deaths for us.
