Yeah, I was one of them for 9 1/2 years (active)!  I was making a salary below
poverty levels. I barley made $26,000/yr before taxes at my 9 year mark.
And to think right now I make more than an E9 with 26 years in the war.
Oh and the clothing that is paid for is only your initial uniforms at boot camp
and actually you pay for those! Most don't even know they did.  After that you
have to buy your own replacement uniforms!  And you get a lousy "maintenance"
increase every 4 years as a one time increase to cover the replacement of any
uniforms. And the increse barley covers part of the replacement costs.

Me, I won't put too much about my military history on a resume except specific
classes and such.  I found many "potential" and former employers that do
discriminate against vets, it is very subtle but they do it. <cough><cough> Nash
Finch <cough><cough>
