[CLUE-Talk] SCO!

One major question is how much BSD code Linux and SCO have in common? A
lot of SCO's BSD heritage could derive directly from what was in the
Unix source at the time ATT sued BSD. Altho BSD was found by the judge
to have infringed in a few areas (and I sometimes wonder if the judge,
ATT and Berkeley made this decision to allow ATT to save face), much of
the common code was allowed to stay because so many people outside ATT
had contributed to Unix. Virtual memory was not added by ATT. Berkeley
contributed the TCP/IP stack. Etc.

SCO's suit could result in the records of that case being opened up. If
so, I hope the records become public.

SCO is now run by people who know nothing of the history of Unix. They
are business people who somehow got control of the company. And now
they think they see a change to hijack Linux. They remind me of venture
capitalists who fund someone, then sieze the company, claiming the
founders are ruining the company.
