I work for a school here in Denver that must connect to the Denver Public
Schools network with a few machines to access their student information
system. The Cisco router that we had in our building "died" and DPS says we
need a new one and has quoted this:
CISCO2611XM Dual 10/100 Ethernet Router w/Cisco IOS
$1,546.90
CAB-AC Power cord 110V
0.00
S261PB-12302T Cisco 2600 Ser IOS IP Base
0.00
WIC-1DSU-T1 1-Port T1/Fractional T1 DSU/CSU WAN Inte
620.00
CON-STLOC SMARTNET FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOV 0.00
Anyone out there know of a used solution that would be the same as above?
This $2,000 item was an unexpected expense that we'd like to avoid if
possible. It must be Cisco because DPS requires them to be Cisco so they can
have continuity in all their buildings. I tried to convince them that a
linux box with a wan pipe in it would work, but they wouldn't go for it.
Thanks for your help,
Rita
