I think this should also be required reading:

http://www.dod.mil/releases/2003/nr20031115-0642.html

It is the DOD reaction to the release of this memo. The salient lines:

"The classified annex was not an analysis of the substantive issue of
the relationship between Iraq and al Qaida, and it drew no conclusions."

This stuff listed in the memo is raw intelligence. A large portion of
raw intelligence turns out to be just plain wrong. This memo is not an
analysis based on raw intel.

The other quote:

"Individuals who leak or purport to leak classified information are
doing serious harm to national security; such activity is deplorable and
may be illegal."

I look forward to the furor over the leaking of this classified, highly
sensitive memo. Oh wait, this one furthered the goals of a politician
in office on the 'R' side, so it is OK. I got confused.

It is also important to note that most of the Iraq-AQ connections in the
article are old (in the 90s, ending in 2000), and that it seems they
didn't really go anywhere substantive. Also, the official CIA position
was that there was no important relationship between Iraq and AQ. And
our President has said that Iraq had no ties to 9/11.

This looks like a smokescreen to me. Release classified, raw intel. to
muddy the waters. Douglas Feith is not an honorable man, it would seem.
