:) Well, that'd be pretty dumb on their part. I'm a revenue stream for those
guys right now...I have not tallied up my DVD count recently, but I'd wager
I've bought 200+ DVDs over the years (yeah, I'm a movie geek). Of course,
that's nothing compared to what some blood sucking MPAA lawyers could try to
bleed me for, but I'd think what I'm doing falls under "fair use".

I actually rip the whole main feature to vob on the HD, then I generally
transcode audio portions of that. Sometimes I zero in on a chapter and just
rip that to vob if I know that's all I'll be working on. I think transcode
can work straight from the DVD, but some options are not available in
dvd::rip if you do this.

Mostly I just want to get funny and/or cool quotes from movies. For example,
the test I used was a quote from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back....for those
familiar with the movie it's the part where Jay dictates his "rebuttal" of
online critics to Silent Bob. :) I know a lot of these clips may exist out
there on the net already, but sometimes they aren't edited in quite the way
I want, or have lousy quality, etc. Sometimes, I just can't find them at
all, so having the ability to do this is great.

Next, I want to sample Dr. Strangelove ("you can't fight in here, this is
the WAR ROOM!!!"), 2001, Clockwork Orange, Clerks, Office Space and probably
a few dozen more...I also took video and audio from the climax of "Ringu"
and play that for my screensaver. Creepy.

While technically I did not commit a crime, an impeachable offense... these
are legalisms, as far as the handling of this matter is concerned; it was so
botched up, I made so many bad judgments. The worst ones, mistakes of the
heart, rather than the head. But let me say, a man in that top job - he's got
to have a heart, but his head must always rule his heart.
