The driver install checks to see if you're using Red Hat 9, if not, it
won't allow itself to be installed. They're closed source drivers, so
there's no help from 3rd parties. It can do JBOD, but there are many RAID
cards out that that can do that for less money and better support under
Linux.

I can only see this card being used in two ways:

1. Homebrew Linux NAS or file server. You install the OS and don't plan on
upgrading much. Put box in closet and only touch it when a drive dies.

2. You need RAID 5 in your Windows box. I checked Newegg to see what would
be a reasonable price for this card, and the only RAID 5 card that was
available from Promise was for a rack server, and only ATA connections.
