I don't necessarily agree/disagree with any of the proceeding
comments. Here's my approach:

1. Having observed the mafiosi techniques of Microsoft over the years,
I avoid their products whenever possible.
2. From my standpoint, any open source company that chooses contracts
with Microsoft as a business practice has just signed their death
warrant. I will never ever consider using their products, and I will
recommend that my friends do the same.
3. It's really unfortunate that products like OpenSUSE get tarred with
the same brush, but the (tenuous maybe) association with Novell leaves
a bad taste in my mouth as well. Not that I ever was especially fond
of SuSE.
4. Ubuntu and Debian are looking better than ever.
