Yes, it's true. Being reported in several places right now.

I don't find it ironic. Despite his maintinaing he "supports" the rights
of gun owners, Obama is in favor of another "assault weapons" ban, and
most recently, I'm reading he wants a nationwide ban on concealed carry.

There are a few problems with this. First off, the federal government
doesn't have the authority to enact nationwide bans on anything. 2nd,
jurisdications that have liberalized concealed carry permitting have seen
drops in violent crime, or at least no rise in violent crime. 3rd, the
2nd Amendment prohibits the infringement of the right to keep and bear
arms, as D.C. learned recently. I don't believe that a ban in the mold of
the 1994 AWB would survive a constitutional challenge.

BTW, McCain is not much better. My hope is that a new AWB would not be
able to get past a fillibuster in the Senate.
