I imagine there are more than a few Terry Goodkind fans out here. If
you haven't read his Sword of Truth series, it's a great fantasy
series. Goodkind has some obvious political beliefs and uses his books
as a platform sometimes, but I like them anyway. He's a rabid
libertarian....the bad guys, from the 2nd novel on, are essentially
socialist. I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard anyone on this board
refer to Obama supporters as the "Imperial Order". Richard, the main
character, makes speeches about the value of Life, personal
responsibility, and the dangers of relying on government to solve your
problems.

Anyway, Goodkind and JJ Abrahms are making the 1st book into a TV show.
The first show was on last night. Did anyone watch it? What'd you think?

Personally, I like the books much better. In the book, Richard's moral
righteousness was deeply satisfying, even to a died-in-the-wool liberal
like me. He gets really pissed off and chops dumbasses in half with a
sword, and you can *feel* the satisfaction of the crunching bones and
the splatter of the blood. On TV, he's just another action hero. Also,
I'm surprised by how much has changed from the book. And...I think the
show's a little cheesy. Okay, flame away!
