Actually, it has been studied, and if you include people who have very
little knowledge of the actual events and issues in an election as
"non-sensical" people -- they tend to vote Left.
(I'm not saying this as an anti-Obama thing -- in fact, I'm done
"campaigning" for the year.) I'm just saying that there are some
pretty well vetted scientific studies along these lines that show the
correlation of more voters, especially voters who have no clue what's
going on in the election, tends to swing ANY election toward the left.
It's 2 AM and I'm not going to go dig up links to any of the research
right now. Voting left usually means you're voting with the larger
percentage of people who have no idea what's going on, even if you do.
(Again, I've voted for Democrats -- the closest thing we have to a
"Left" here in the U.S., before.)
I'm just stating that the "no side has a monopoly on" phrase is a non-
sequitur or flat out false, scientifically.
It's another one of those catchy phrases like old-wives tales, that
don't hold up under scientific scrutiny.
Am I saying I don't want "stupid people" to vote, or anything like
that -- hell no. Everyone has a right to vote, and I'll always defend
that right.
Have a great election day everyone. I have some personal business
that is going to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks, but I
wanted to take a moment to honestly THANK everyone for the enlightened
and heartfelt debate over the last weeks/months here in CLUE-Talk. I
am happy we all live in a place where we can talk about it openly,
disagree as much as we want without harming others, and where
everyone's allowed to vote. I may get time to read/post on and off,
but I'll probably catch back up on the "post-game show" here on CLUE-
Talk around November 18th or so.
Now, for a little comedy that just popped into my head...
"Go vote your brains out!"
And of course, the old joke ...
"Vote early, vote often!"
And ...
"Vote, unless you're voting for the other guy!"
And all that fun stuff...!
Y'all have fun out there today, looks like the weather is good across
the majority of the land, so no excuses... go vote!
All the best to you and yours,
--
