BigBrother is a pay for product IIRC but there is xymon.  It used to be
called hobbit until the owner of the hobbit name came after the software
writer.  hobbit works just like big brother and can interact with big
brother scripts.  There is also a plugin called devmon that will allow you
to get stats from a box via snmp.  We use hobbit for our production
monitoring of a few hundred boxen.  Check it out if you like.
