[clue-talk] Fwd: I learned something new today about another branding of Linux

Y'all,

Here's a fun question: Anyone have an idea how to compare the number of packages available "by default" to different distros? I've heard that there are more than 20K for Ubuntu, and the sales manager at Parsec says 25k for Debian... Anyone know where to find a list, or how to make one, or the numbers for other distro's?

I think Ubuntu has the record for available packages, but I'm not sure...

Debian GNU/Linux provides more than a pure OS: it comes with over 25113 packages < http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages > , precompiled software bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine.
