Doh! My mistake for the repeat posting since I get the various CLUE lists in Digest format (so I will get the current thread around 12noon MST).

For reference and on behalf of Linux ETC, I have contacted a few folks in the CO government and news media in regards to the posting on Slashdot. My perspective besides this being a bit "off based" (okay, I might be slightly biased in being an Open Source/Linux advocate too) is why spend our tax dollars during an economic recession/crisis to have such examples as I posted and others have commented on when it goes against the CO OIT's own mission statement of "One goal of the OIT is to create an Enterpise Architecture that improves service to citizens while lowering costs." (found (with typos) at http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite?c=Page&cid=1165692953912&pagename=OIT-New%2FOITXLayout) when they can use a stable, secure, and cost effective solution with the proper training and resources? Perhaps some attention to this will bring in some "proper IT resources" especially to those within the CLUE community to remedy this situation.
