Dear Associates of Terra Soft Solutions,

Much has changed in the land of Yellow Dogs and Black Labs during the
past
few weeks.

YDL KERNEL UPGRADE FULLY SUPPORTS IBM RS/6000 B50 and F50

We've released an updated kernel that allows users to install Champion
Server 1.2 on their IBM RS/6000 B50 and F50 systems. The current update
does not work on the 43P-150. Our updated instructions now include
details
on how to set up your RS/6000 to boot directly from hard disk without
the
need for the Quik bootloader.

In addition, the update adds SMP support for the F50 (we are utilizing
all
4 CPUs on our F50) and expanded RAM support -- now 768 Megabytes.

For information on downloading the update, please see our RS/6000 page:
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/faq_rs6k.shtml

TERRA SOFT ALLOWS UPLOADING OF CONTRIBUTED SOFTWARE

We're pleased to announce upload access to our ftp server. Contributed
software will be reviewed and then added to the new contribution section
of
our ftp site.

Upload files to: ftp://ftp.terraplex.com/pub/incoming
(This is a write only directory, you won't be able to view files placed
in
this directory)

New contrib area: ftp://ftp.terraplex.com/pub/contrib
(This is where you will go to download contributed software)

TERRA SOFT MAKES BITKEEPER KERNEL TREE PUBLICALLY ACCESSIBLE

We have made available public access to our internal kernel source tree.
This system consists of the BitKeeper(tm) source code control system
repository of the Linux kernel, with the addition of all scripts and
makefiles required to build a binary kernel RPM using the same method as
used by Terra Soft.

This repository is based upon the BitKeeper version provided by Cort
Dougan
at FSM Labs (http://www.fsmlabs.com/linuxppcbk.html). Whenever a new
release or PowerPC specific fix is put into Cort's repository, the
latest
changes can be merged into a user's local copy of the TSS kernel
repository.

In addition to making synchronization simpler, this new system reduces
by
an order of magnitude the amount of data transferred to update to a new
release. Once a user has a copy of the repository, they simply issue a
'bk
pull' command to get *only* the differences between newer versions and
the
current version instead of downloading 12 MB of the full kernel source
every time there is a new release.

To find out how to access the TSS BitKeeper tree, please see:
http://devel.yellowdoglinux.com/rp_bk.shtml
More information about BitKeeper is available at
http://www.bitkeeper.com.
