The LinkSys unit (which I have one of) is easier to config, but not as
versatile as a Linux firewall.  The most noteable mossing link is the take
port 23 in and send it to port 22 on ip address 192.168.1.10.  You can
send to the ip address, but not change the port.  You also only can
forward 10 blocks of addresses.  As for security over time, they are
software upgradeable.  It lives in flash, and it is a simple http upload
to do this, unfortunately at this time, there are some IE specific things
on the firmware upgrader.
