[CLUE-Tech] Modules

creating the alias is only half of what you need to do, you still need
to do a modprobe or insmod somewhere, usually in a rc script

my (slackware) machine has an rc.modules file that has a lot of lines
like:
modprobe scsi_mod

try doing that from the command line, then do lsmod
