[CLUE-Tech] COM and Linux

Hey,

I've got a friend that uses Windows and programs using VB and loves the
COM of Windows. Not being a programmer, is there anything which is
comparable to him using it (other than the normal scripting stuff)?  He
likes working with VB but is looking to switch to Linux.

If there is, does anyone know of something which will tranlate his
script from Windows into the Linux area?  If these questions can be
answered, he'll switch to Linux.
