[CLUE-Tech] LILO vs. GRUB root reset

1) Select the image to be booted
2) Select the line that references the kernel
3) hit 'e' for edit
4) add '1' or 'single' to the end of the line
5) hit 'b' for boot

    done with GRUB?  I don't seem to find the method for booting into a single
    user mode.  This is with the caveat that I am unable to get into the system
