[CLUE-Tech] performance issues with audio / ripping

The sound card is not even involved in this process.  I use CDParanoia 
to rip them into directories by album, then fix up the names myself.  I 
then run the mp3 encoder later, so I can control how hard it hits me. 
 Sometimes I will do 200-300 songs at once on the encode.
