Kevin,

I have used PHP for the past year to build a web interface to a database.
Here's my thoughts on PHP:

- - PHP is simple to use, yet sophisticated enough to build high-quality sites.
- - PHP works with most popular web servers like Apache, IIS, AOLServer.
- - PHP code can be optimized using the Zend engine and the mod_php module for
Apache.
- - PHP runs on all sorts of UNIX boxes, Linux, NT
- - PHP has a huge install / user base.
- - PHP has native database connections for all major RDBMS (Oracle, DB2,
Sybase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Interbase, MS-SQL, MS Access.
- - PHP also supports ODBC.

- - In short, PHP can do great things to help you build a dynamic site.

Please visit the PHP home page at http://www.php.net.

You'll find that the 'in the news' link (http://www.php.net/news.php) has a
lot of information that you should read to determine if PHP is the right
choice.
