double check your account properties settings (advanced tab) on your email client to make sure you don't have a check box next to
"This server requires a secure connection (SSL)."

I'm trying to use Outlook Express on my Win98 client to retrieve and send messages to/from my Linux box.

I can retrieve messages fine.  When I try to send, I get this Outlook Express error message:

The SMTP server returned an error. Account: 'friejas', Server: '192.168.0.200', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '+OK POP3 jsf_host
v7.64 server ready', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC60
