Thanks for your reply. Here's a new error message, using port 25 for my outgoing mail:

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'friejas at 192.168.0.200'. Subject 'test', Account: 'friejas', Server: '192.168.0.200', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '451 <friejas at 192.168.0.200>... Sender domain must resolve', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 451, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jason

Looks to me like your Outlook Express is trying to send mail out on port 110 (POP) rather than port 25 (SMTP) and that's a problem... Go into Tools, then Accounts, click Properties for the account in question, go over to the Advanced tab, and make sure it's using port 25 for SMTP and port 110 for POP.

I'm trying to use Outlook Express on my Win98 client to retrieve and send messages to/from my Linux box.

I can retrieve messages fine. When I try to send, I get this Outlook Express error message:

The SMTP server returned an error. Account: 'friejas', Server: '192.168.0.200', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '+OK POP3 jsf_host v7.64 server ready', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC60
