[CLUE-Tech] network issue

Greetings,
I have a laptop which I plug into my LAN occassionally. I do not start the
network script /etc/init.d/network on boot of the laptop. So, when I plug
into my LAN, I'll run the network init script as root. It seems to be many
second delay until eth0 comes up. Here's my ifconfig output, which looks
correct:
