There is another one out there called bitkeeper.  Major differences with CVS are
that it versions directories and it provides multiple repositories.  That means
that each developer can check in changes without others seeing them.  That makes
versioning more fine grained and allows scaling over larger, further distributed
teams.

Bitkeeper used to be free for personal use, but otherwise it's commercial.
