Not sure if this helps, but these have been the most reliable drives
I've used in a *long* time. We go through quite a few both for resale
and our own use. The only thing that is very important when using them
is ventilation. In an improperly cooled enclosure, they will get hot
enough that you can not touch them. With proper ventilation, they get a
bit warm, but nothing out side of normal for 10K RPM drives.
So, losing three of them, from my experience would be very strange.
However, bad batches do happen. But, it would be my inclination to
check the controller and cooling.

Hello.
Where is a good place to go to find out if anybody else has had bad
experiences with the IBM UltraStar Ultra SCSI 160 drives? We have
lost three of them in multiple computers in the last 20 days. Our
investigation has led from the servers, to the software, and now to
the drives. If all of these check out, then we will move on to look
more closely at our colocation environment.
I have used Anandtech in the past, but I can't find any articles
pertaining to the UltraStar drives. I have also googled around to no
avail.
I appreciate your help,
Chris
