Just curious -- Why are you wanting to run or write an assembler program?  
The assembler code generated by GNU C compiler will destroy most of the 
assembler code written by us mere mortals.  Although C is not too much fun to 
write (compared with LISP or PERL), it is _way_ better than assembler.
