At a quick glance I see problems with these lines in your lilo.conf, > default=Windows XP Pro [...] > label=linux 7.2 [...] > label=Windows XP Pro They must be quoted or have no spaces as shown in Dave's example, i.e., label="linux 7.2" or label=linux7.2
