There are a series of O'Reilly books on Perl.  I had bought 'Learning 
Perl' at the first CLUE conference, i think.  Then when i took the 
"official" course at DU, they used the 4 blue books.  The Perl 
Cookbook seems to have solutions for just about any problem you want 
to tackle.  Then Matt's script archive seems to have a good selection 
of scripts to save time writing from scratch.
