[CLUE-Tech] DSL setup question

    I'm trying to set up my linux box to use my earthlink dsl 
connection.  The connection goes from the wall to a router to a switch 
then one line goes to my windows box and one line goes to my linux box. 
 I'm using SuSE 7.3 and I can ping the router, but can't seem to connect 
to the internet.  I've read some man pages and HowTo's on networking, 
but I'm still kinda lost.  Does anyone have any pointers on what I might 
be screwing up?
