I think it makes sense that it's not specific to a distribution, but part
of a later kernel. Doesn't sound like the sort of thing RH, or anyone else
for that matter, would just take out. But, the CONFIG_PROC_FS isn't just
for storing the kernel config in a proc psuedo-file. It's for the whole
proc shebang, IIRC.

What would be the benefits? I've already cleaned up all unused RPMs that
I'm certain of. libc is a compatibility library, so might be useful at
some point. Maybe the gnome folks moved libgthread, etc. to some other
library from glib2, but I can always remove it and see what breaks.
There's some other cleanup I can do on my system, but that's easy enough
done without going through a fresh install, I think.
