Well, there's always xdaliclock. I have an fvwm "button" set to swallow
it, and run it thus:

xdaliclock -24 -noseconds -visual best \
  -memory low -bg deepolive -fg palegold \
  -font -*-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-*-15-*-100-100-*-*-*-* \
  -geometry 60x20 &
