[CLUE-Tech] red hat install freezes

I've had media that passes the media check fail to install. Interestingly
enough, I've had far fewer RedHat install failures with the text mode then
with the Graphical install. Any more I always use the text install and save
myself the headache.

This morning I completed downloading 8.0 and cheerfully started the
installation process. I ran the media check on all 3 CDs and they passed.
The install broke down part way in CD 1 with a media error (I stupidly did
not transcribe the exact error message).

This is a computer I built with mostly new parts, including motherboard,
processor, and hard drive. I error checked the hard drive. It does,
however, have an elderly 12X CD reader. I wonder if it could be the source
of this error?
