[CLUE-Tech] RHCE

I took both the 133 and the 253 courses before taking the RHCE (July
2002).
I cut my teeth on RH 6.0 and actually landed a full time postition as a
Red Hat
admin (not officially but in practice) almost a year before I took the
RHCE exam.
I actually got a lot out of both courses learning the Red Hat Method.

There are no surprises on the RHCE exam. I was able to pass the test on
the
first try, but I worked with it everyday, 8hrs a day. Everything laid
out at
http://www.redhat.com/training/rhce/courses/rhce_content.html is fair
game.
Not only do you need to know how to do SA tasks, you have to do them
fairly
quickly, as it is a timed test with a lot of material. There is no time
to read the
man pages to find out what a command does, only as a quick refresher if
you
don't remember what a certain option does. The best study method I used
was
to have my friends break my system and I would time myself on fixing
it. The
time factor adds a huge amount of preassure to the test, so make sure
you
train yourself to deal it.

Good Luck

Have a bit of an open ended question for you guys, but any information
would
be appreciated. I have been using RedHat Linux since version 4.1. I
have not
been an advid user until about 6.2. I have run my own co-located linux

server for about 4 years. In that time, I have learned quite a bit
about
network services, security (have had just about all the major worms and

viruses), firewall, packages and even some kernel tweeking. I have my
CCNA,
so the networking aspect of Linux I feel comfortable with. My question
is,
how likely is it that I pass my RHCE exam, if I take the RH300 - RHCE
Rapid
Track Course offered by RedHat. It is the 4 day intense prep class and
the
test on the 5th day.

Has anyone taken this exam? What would one need to know in order to
pass
this exam?
