What Ed has mentioned has added some info to my knowledge base.

Well, there seems to always be one piece of info or step this is missed
that makes it a mess ...... uuggghhh!!!! Anyway, this is what happens
when I start mozilla from xterm:

kevin1 at linux:"> mozilla
grep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
cut: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
sed: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

but the above starts the old Mozilla 1.0.1

However, when I installed 1.4 as root I've pointed my GNOME panel
launcher to /usr/local/mozilla/mozilla and 1.4 starts fine.

Since I dont' update my apps except once every six months or so, it's
now time for me to spend this weekend (some of it at least) doing some
updating, hence willing to download the new plugins as well. Start
fresh, is you know what I mean.

Kevin
