While low to mid grade ink jets are fine for casual printing, they
aren't suitable for art/archival printing. Generally you want a photo
stable pigment based system.  Dye-Sub and Giclee are examples of this. 
You should also look at the Epson Photo 2200.  It's a "prosumer" grade
inkjet, but uses Epson's newer UltraChrome pigmented inks.  They claim a
lightfastness of 80-100 years on acid free papers.  Thats actually
better than the life span of most light-based color papers.  Not as good
as correctly processed and toned silver based (think true B&W prints)
prints, but pretty good.
