Why will you use hosts.deny and not iptables?

Not if they are run by tcpd from inetd (or xinetd). You might if the
daemons run by themselves and are linked to libwrap (Google doesn't make
it clear). Try it and see. (You probably want to try it and see to
make sure it does what you expect -- and to make sure your binary is
actually linked to libwrap.)
