How about this:

alias myfriend='vi tmpmsg; ispell tmpmsg; mail -s "Hi" myfriend at isp.com 
< tmpmsg; rm tmpmsg'

Then you can run your mailer from the command line *and* use vi to write 
the message. And it spell checks too! :-)

(Obviously I haven't added all the "useful" features to this that you 
might.  If I had I'd have wound up with kmail.) <GDR>
