Can't help you with the 8i libraries, but I have to ask what reason you'd
have for wanting to intall DBD::Oracle without installing the requisite
Oracle pieces. You shouldn't need to install the whole database server
package. A basic client install should provide you with the necessary
SQLnet libraries for building client code. Is that what you (functionally)
want to do?
