Don,
I'm writing this Email from a Latitude C610 that is in a docking station
and running Redhat 9 so rest assured that there isn't a conflict with
the OS and the hardware of the docking station.
I guess we know that the hardware in the docking station is working
since you have a display before X comes up, right? So, you should be
able to do Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a login prompt and debug this.
Can you send the relevant lines from cat /proc/pci? You should see a
section for your video card in there, look for a line that begins with
Bus 1, that is usually the AGP bus. Then look through your
/var/log/XFree86.0.log for any errors (EE) or warnings (WW). You should
also send relevant lines from your /etc/X11/XF86Config file.
If X works fine on the built-in LCD screen then the problem is most
likely going to be in the monitor settings. Is this the same monitor
that you used with RH8? Did you have to do anything special to make it
work at first?
