The biggest change right now with wireless support under linux is that
Broadcom released a new chipset that people are fitting into products
(without making it a new model) that doesn't yet have support under
linux. I know the wlan-ng people are trying to get the specs on the
chips. Apparently there are some security issues with the newer 802.11g
chips and their signal usage flexibility (slashdot). Maybe the technical
stuff in that terrible move The Recruit wasn't so bad after all...
