[CLUE-Tech] Serial terminal to embedded Linux System

Ok I am feeling really stupid.

Just got a nice embedded system to load the Arbitrator
on, and the first thing I need to do is to boot it
with the serial terminal attached. (before I can get
into real trouble) Well I don't have any serial
terminals hanging around is there a way to emulate
this thing with a PC, or a place I can run out and buy
one that will do the trick.

The howto for this thing also talks about hitting
special keys from the serial terminal so is it safe to
assume serial terminals come with keyboards standard?
