[CLUE-Tech] Samba 3 & Active Directory

Does anybody currently have Samba 3.x box authenticating against Active 
Directory yet?  I've been reading a lot about how to set it up today, 
but all the docs keep talking about kerberos.  I'm not sure exactly what 
that is used for - I don't want to control logins to the actual linux 
box using AD, I just want to be able to have the shares on my linux box 
be viewed from windows, and then be able to change permissions on them. 
  Do I need kerberos for this?
