Cool.  I called Qwest and they were all for upgrading me.  But I'm on a 
CAP 678 and need to upgrade to DMT.  So the first story was a 10 day 
outage - 5 day deadline to pull the CAP, 5 days to install the DMT 
(their end).  But I asked when the 10 days would start and the girl 
checked and said no, they could do it in one day (good thinking).

The she said the downtime would happen the same day my new modem 
arrived.  I asked whether I had to pay for that (since I've owned my 
modem from before the days they rented them) and she said yes (but she 
did check whether they could waive the fee).  So I asked whether 
upgrading my firmware to DMT would do the trick and she said "Why 
certainly!  If you're comfortable doing that more power to you."  (Heck, 
I had to do that for Code Red.)

So I'm waiting for my outage so I can upgrade.

All in all it was a very pleasant call and I have to say that Qwest 
customer service has been top notch for me (at least as far as DSL goes).
